In attendance: Peter Belford, artists' choice exhibit; Aram Comjean, web site; Sarah Dobkin, community space; Terry Dovidio, map book; Jo Guthrie, memberhip; Nicholas Shectman, coordinator; Julia Tenney.
How to track attendance? We discussed bracelets and surveying artists.
* Remind artists to do PR, now. Give them copy, or a jpg from the cover.
* Send email to survey participants (or snail mail?) Jo Guthrie doing one of these.
We have 5 cover designs. We narrowed it down to 2, Terry to combine elements and we'll go with that. Data is ready to put in the map-book; changes are in the database now. Terry currently doing master pages and style sheets for the inside pages of the map-book. Are we doing separate blurbs for Nave, Brickbottom, ESMS? Peter to get Artists Choice blurb to Terry. Terry to call SCUL and see about the kickoff ride. Instead of putting ATMs on the map, tell artists to look up the nearest ATM so they know where to send people. Next year, get ATM people to give us $ to put a sign on the map.
Next big graphics thing is the bag map, which is just about ready to do. But Aram's google thing will make this much easier to do. Next year, having a dedicated data cleanup person doing their thing before reg closes, we could keep reg open later.
* Nick to contact BFS, ambit, and Kirkwood
We can't nail into the armory walls, but OK to use "commander hooks". We're not going to do any community space at Clarendon Hill. Are kids going in community space, or is that group going somewhere else? To answer later. Is SHS thing in community space? No, it's in the high school [ed note 3/29: no, actually, it's in community space]. East Somerville Main Streets is doing their own thing. Armory hours are noon-6 Saturday, 10-1 Sunday because we need to be out Sunday [ed note 3/29: we got the armory all day Sunday and are back to normal hours]. Next year, get community space going sooner.
For food for museum show,
- we get $ from Dave's Fresh, so no trade there?
- Peter doesn't have time to contact Whole Foods, Nick to do that instead
- Peter has not been in touch with Dante or Filippo; does he know he's comped? And can we get him back in? Maybe better to do a new place.
- Ursula is doing music
- Maybe Leah Bloom can recommend someone?
What's up with Stinky's?
Trolleys: losing 2 stops.
Balloons: probably orange. Promote-yourself section on the web, for artists.
* Nick to send staff.somervilleopenstudios.org URL to staff
* Banner pole in front of Somerville Museum is available! Peter will get dimensions + info to Terry.
Next year, talk to cultural council.
