In attendance: Peter Belford, Sarah Bettencourt, Matt Carrano, Terry Dovidio, Rachel Mello, Nicholas Shectman, Jeramy Webb, and David Winkler.
Jeramy volunteers to work on food for the artists choice exhibit for Peter Belford. Taza Chocolate wants to give out chocolate - maybe that should be at SOS weekend instead of or in addition to the reception? Dave's Fresh Pasta interested, wine from Restaurant Dante.
Committee mailing list seems to be broken; some people did not get meeting reminder.
Peter might need 1-2 more people for museum tasks but the museum is physically in good shape so hopefully we can finish prep in a single day, this Tuesday.
We need someone to put out the map stands - Jeramy volunteers since he has a pickup truck, David to help with that so there can be two people. Do we also need to put some paint on them?
Is someone doing flyers? We need them by the opening; Nick to ask Resa to design. Need 3000 +/- flyers.
Terry has maps to proof! It's still possible to get one more ad in if we get copy tomorrow, and we expect that to be the Burren.
Much feedback about the design but really the thing to do is mark up the physical copies Terry handed out. In particular, how should we treat studio names graphically. * change square zone markings on the map to round. * change most studio names from black to bold. * rotate names of squares and such on map A to be square to the page. Return maps to Terry Dovidio at 170 sycamore. Scales on the maps? Terry to get PDF to Nick and Nick will say how many points a quarter-mile is.
Rachel proposes: Yard signs for sites, consistent visual impact, 150 signs for $350. Or, bumper stickers; we prefer these, but it will depend on the sponsorship situation.
Community space is going well, scheduling a meeting with the artists and the Armory soon, how to hang art? Discussed using the Arisia hangings. There is picture rail in at least some of the space. Lighting may also be an issue. Will need to get a table count; these are probably not free.
Nick to ask Skunk to be on SCAT.
What other PR should we be doing? Advertise on boston.com? For next year, SOS On The Road shoud outside somerville? Focus on galleries, particularly with flyers. Private schools, such as Holderness. B&Bs and hotels. Nick to talk to September Isdell about using her connection with the Globe? We need proofreaders for Sunday night / Monday morning. Resa, Kelvy, ? Two total, especially if they can come over to Terry's house.
Next meetings: not Wednesday or Thursday, please.
