Dear SOS Participant!
In a mere FOUR WEEKS it will be time to clang the bells of the trolleys and open our doors to a whole host of visitors! Here is a list of things to keep in mind:
1. Login to the website for important dates, publicity materials and further updates:
http://www.somervilleopenstudios.org/participate/resources.php
You can now see where you will be on the maps, find self-promotional materials and find out about the Artist's Choice exhibits at the Somerville Museum which help to stir interest in the weekend!
2. Artist's Choice drop off days are Saturday April 11 and Monday April 13.
If you are registered to exhibit during SOS 2009, you are invited to submit one piece for inclusion in the show. Full information on submitting artwork is available on the SOS website. Click here or, from www.somervilleopenstudios.org, click the "PARTICIPATE" button near the top, and then click on "Artists' Choice Submission Information" link near the bottom of the next page. And whether you choose to participate in the show or not, mark your calendar for the opening reception... Thursday April 16, 6 - 9 pm.
3. Self-promotional Materials.
Many artists have expressed interest in increasing the number of visitors to their studios. The results of last year's Visitor Survey showed that the number one influence on what made visitors choose one studio over another was the artists' own promotions. This was followed by the influence of word-of-mouth by friends, and by visitors seeing work they liked in the Artist Choice show.
One idea we had was that you might like to send out an email or print out a post card to send to your own mailing lists and now is about the right time to start asking your friends to save the date, as of Saturday we're FIVE WEEKS away! For graphics to use on your website, print out on a post card or include in an email, please login to our website and visit our resources page:

4. Volunteers!
We're always looking for volunteers to help distribute map-books and help with the Artist Choice, handle the trolley-stop signs other SOS-tasks. Drop a note to volunteer@SomervilleOpenStudios.org and let us know if you'd like to help (and give us an idea of things you'd enjoy doing).
We'd like to thank you for bringing the collaboration together. You are what this is about and why we volunteer our time to make this happen.
Sincerely,
Jo
